Beginners Introduction to Italian Colors (Infographic)

Beginner’s Introduction to Italian Colors (Infographic) Sign up successful Below  is a brief guide to help you recognize Italian colors, as well as how to  pronounce them! Pink Rosa (Roh-sah) Red Rosso (Roh-soh) Orange Arancione (Ah-rahn-cho-neh) Yellow Giallo (Giah-lloh) Green Verde (Ver-deh) Light Blue Azzurro (Ah-zoo=roh) Blue Blu  (Bloo) Navy Blue Blu Marino (Bloo Mah-ree-noh) Purple Porpora (Pour-poh-rah) Violet Violetta (Vee-oh-letta) Brown Marrone (Mah-rone-eh) Black Nero (Neh-roh) Grey Grigio (Gree-joh) White Bianco (Bee-ahn-coh) Silver Argento (Are-Gehn-toh) Gold Dorato (Doh-rah-toh) Changing Italian Colors to Masculine or Feminine When using an Italian color in a sentence,  its  important to remember that  the color may be classified as masculine or feminine,  depending on the context in which the color is used. For example, in the sentence,  La palla rossa.  the letter a is added to the end of rossa, instead of an o because la palla    is feminine. See other examples below: Il  caffè nero. ( The black coffee) La moto gialla. ( The yellow bike) Il dollaro verde. ( The green dollar) Expressing Italian Colors in Plural To express  colors in plural, you may add an “i” for masculine words and an “e” for feminine words. See examples below: I cani neri (The black dogs) Due giacconi verdi (Two green jackets) Changing Italian Colors Depending on Article The endings also change depending on the article. See examples below: Rosso (Red) Rosso (Masculine Singular) Rossa (Feminine Singular) Rossi (Masculine Plural) Rosse (Feminine Plural)  Giallo (Yellow) Giallo (Masculine Singular) Gialla (Feminine Singular) Giallo (Masuline Plural) Gialle (Feminine Plural) Grigio (Grey) Grigio (Masculine Singular) Grigia (Feminine Singular) Grigi (Masculine Plural) Grigie (Feminine Plural) Nero (Black) Nero (Masculine Singular) Nera (Feminine Singular) Neri (Masculine Plural) Nere (Feminine Plural) *Please note that there are some exceptions to this rule. For example, some colors will stay the same, and will not change conjugation, such as blu and viola. Whats more, colors that end in the letter o  will then switch to a, to make it masculine or feminine. Colors that do not end in the letter o, will stay the same, but will change for the plural. For example,  the plural for marrone would be marroni. Thats it for my introduction to Italian colors! I hope this color guide will enable you to  express yourself and the many beautiful colors correctly the next time youre  speaking in Italian. If you would like to practice using  Italian colors more,  talk to your Italian teacher to see if there are any fun exercises you can do. The more you practice the easier it will be to memorize the colors. Post Author:  Liz T. Building Early Math Skills Key To Later Academic Success

Building Early Math Skills Key To Later Academic Success Building Early Math Skills Key To Later Academic Success Building Early Math Skills Key To Later Academic Success December 7, 2015 Too Small To Fail conducted a QA with Deborah J. Stipek, dean of Stanford Graduate School of Education, on the importance of introducing children to math concepts early. Read that interview here, which includes tips and resources for parents. The importance of early, hands-on experiences with numbers helps explain why Heart’s intervention is necessary and gives the rationale for some aspects of the program. “Children learn best during playful, everyday activities, like counting their toes, the buttons on their shirt, the steps they walk up. They can be asked to count out how many forks are needed to help set the table. Shape hunts through the house can be fun (the clock is a circle; the TV is a rectangle). Children can learn about the importance of numbers by doing a number hunt, with a discussion of how the numbers on the telephone, clock, or elevator are useful.” â€" Deborah J. Stipek Many Heart students did not have the hands-on experiences with numbers described above. Heart uses tutoring manipulates (Connecting Cubes, dice, cards) to create “playful, everyday activities.” We ask tutors to make sure students are the ones touching and moving the objects, even if it takes more time and patience on the tutor’s part. This way, students’ time in Heart attempts to compensate for some of the lack of hands-on experiences with numbers in early ages and at home. As Heart prepares hosts eight holiday events for parents through Dec. 18, the research and ideas cited in the QA with Stipek are a reminder that math can be practiced at home in everyday situations. The article goes on to further emphasize the importance of reducing math anxiety through “playful opportunities to develop math skills.” Heart lessons add elements of surprise, competition, or tracking points to keep an element of FUN in simple tasks! Billingsville teacher Amanda Saunders remarked that sometimes students enjoy the time with Heart tutors so much that they don’t even realize they are practicing math skills that have been very difficult for them in the past. “Some of the biggest needs that I see from the kids is not necessarily even always academic but sometimes it’s just that moral support or having someone that they know is going to be there for them consistently a couple of times a week. A lot of times the kids don’t even pick up on the fact that they really are working on things academically that they need.” â€" Amanda Saunders, second grade teacher, Billingsville Leadership Academy A 2013 study by University of California-Irvine found that “math knowledge at the beginning of elementary school was the single most powerful predictor determining whether a student would graduate from high school and attend college. This 3 -minute NPR audio clip also mentions that meta-cognition (thinking about your thinking) and asking students to explain their reasoning strengthens students’ verbal skills. “We talk a lot about literacy, but not nearly as much about math.… Several studies show that children’s math skills when they enter school are very strong predictors of their academic success later on. One study showed that math skills upon kindergarten entry predicted children’s reading abilities in third grade as well as their reading skills at kindergarten entry. While children can learn beginning math skills after they enter kindergarten, they will be at a disadvantage.” â€" Deborah J. Stipek The achievement gap begins before kindergarten not only in reading but in math, as well, and early math skills predict later academic success. The Time is Now Mike Matousek On Founding Flashnotes In College

The Time is Now Mike Matousek On Founding Flashnotes In College Photo via http://www.linkedin.com/in/mikematousek Matousek  eventually graduated from Kent State University in 2010 with a degree in finance and entrepreneurship, but not before he founded Flashnotes, a Boston-based online marketplace where students can buy and sell their notes and other class materials. To date, the company has acquired NoteUtopia and Moolaguides, and has raised  Series A funding amounting to 3.6 million. Matousek retold the birth of the idea for Flashnotes, reminiscing on a statistics class he really didnt understand, and consequently took copious detailed notes. The idea took hold when he sold his first batch of those notes with the notion that, maybe, other students didnt or couldnt take such detailed notes and would benefit from the sharing of his. And so the mission of Flashnotes, powering the student-to-student exchange of high quality academic materials to help supplement and complement the learning experience by harnessing commerce and the latest technologies, was conceived. Matousek  admitted that in the early stages of Flashnotes (while he was a senior at Kent State) he knew little of how to turn his idea into an actual business, and that the unknown and unexpected were some of the mental obstacles he and many entrepreneurs have tackled when first starting out. You know, I think problem solving is one of the best qualities because there will always be unexpected situations, he said. You just have to keep pushing. Indeed, the ability to accept that there is a distinct learning curve when it comes to building and launching a new business is well founded. “Founders need to be adaptable   not only because it takes a certain level of mental flexibility to understand what users want, but because the plan will probably change,  said Jessica Livingston, author of the book  Founders at Work, in an article via the 16th letter. Speaking of change, Flashnotes now not only facilitates hand-written notes (although Matousek  said this is still the most-used format), but has also expanded to include multimedia and video tutorials. Students set their own prices and earn up to 70 percent on their sales, and since the content is crowd sourced, poor notes subsequently do not get purchased and are filtered out. The site also highlights competitive earners, showing the top five student earning amounts (note the top seller has sold over $11,000 worth of study material). This expansion, after an initial startup of eight months, shows that it is indeed possible to take a simple concept the concept of sharing and turn it into a profitable business. After a few short years, Flashnotes is now using investor funds to expand services to around 300 institutions. Photo via http://dfk0oft9nprzr.cloudfront.net I learned more about life in six months than ten years of school, Matousek  said as he touched on the founding stages of Flashnotes. His story reiterates the idea that waiting until you graduate college isnt a necessity, and that if you stay committed to an idea, you can bring it to fruition. In fact, getting started in entrepreneurship early is going to leave you, at the very least, with more business knowledge than a large percentage of college students, and at most, a profitable business upon graduation. If youre grasping at ideas for a business venture and coming up blank, try to stay close to home. That is, remember how Matousek  developed the idea for Flashnotes; he was struggling in a class along with many others, and so decided to sell his notes to students with the same problem. He was directly involved in the process leading to the idea; after all, who better to create a marketplace for student study materials than a student? Some of the best ideas and startups come from the notion that if youre struggling with something, or that if you wish you had something, chances are someone else is and does too, so keep your eyes and ears open. The same idea goes for any aspect of life, not just the student side. If youre a fitness buff, for example, what can you bring to the fitness community? Think niche and look for opportunities others havent seen. Jon Taffer, host of the TV show Bar Rescue, said in an interview with Entrepreneuer.com, Years ago when I was very young, a VP of Hyatt looked at me and said, You look, but you don’t see. Taffer learned to look not just at the big picture, but also at every place setting, light fixture, and customer exchange, Entrepreneur.com emphasized. See every crack, every detail, Taffer said. I learned to really see and not just look at my business. Matousek  mentioned that the right time to make strides toward your goals and start a business is in the present, today. When I asked if he had any advice to other college students wanting to start a business, he reminds all of us that, The right time to risk is now. Post your notes and study guides for sale today on Flashnotes. To learn more about Flashnotes, click here.

Tips From an Irvine Private Tutor Stress and Finals

Tips From an Irvine Private Tutor Stress and Finals Tips From an Irvine Private Tutor: Avoiding Stress During Finals Students are incredibly relieved  to realize all of their AP exams are over and that the ACT and SAT are in the bag for the spring (assuming they received the score they were hoping for). However, once students have had a bit of a rest, they remember that finals are on the horizon. It isn’t over until the end of June and it’s important that  students maintain a low level of stress (if possible) to ensure success during finals as well as a healthy and happy life in general. Why not use technology to fight undue stress and anxiety? Students are using technology to study all day long as it is. There are some great  anti-stress apps out there to help motivated, but overwhelmed, students stay relaxed during these final weeks of school (READ: 10 Reasons You Need a Summer Irvine Private Tutor). 1. Calm.com Aptly named, Calm.com helps students, and their parents, stay  rejuvenated  and rested during long-haul study sessions. Users can choose from a mixture of backgrounds including soothing raindrops, ocean waves, and floating clouds.  Students who are in need of a zone-out session can simply stare at the screen and listen to the  soothing  sounds of the rainforest, while super stressed users can choose the guided meditation function. Recommended study  break  plan: Start with the 2-minute guided meditation option after arriving home from school in order to separate classroom study from at-home  study. Proceed to take a break every hour and continue with the 2-minute guided meditation until the end of the study session.  A nice feature on Calm.com is the ability to complete the meditation in just 2 minutes, making it a reasonable break time.  Students who work late into the evening are encouraged to use the 5-minute guided meditation feature  to help them focus away from the blue light on their screen and relax them off to sleep. A well-rested student is more likely to  perform successfully at school. 2. Breathe2Relax Another great anti-stress app is Breathe2Relax. This particular app helps students calm down when they become overwhelmed with test prep or when they are attempting to cram for finals. Many people start to breathe too quickly or even skip breaths here and there when they are not mindful of their stress levels; this particular app can help get students back on track. Whether a student takes a 5-minute break every 30 minutes to an hour to simply breathe, or if they plug in their headphones and use the app for the entirety of their study session, healthy breathing can help students power through long amounts of homework or test preparation. Recommended study break plan: students who are studying for exams will often become overwhelmed with the thought of the subject matter at hand. Additionally, students may feel overwhelmed from the time they wake up in the morning until they finish their final exams in the afternoon. Students can use the app throughout their studies or they can listen to it in the car ride to school (assuming theyre not driving) for 2 minutes or so prior to the actual exam. Students who are less anxious are more likely to remember important material and do well on their tests. 3. White Noise Students who are studying late into the evening will often have trouble falling asleep. Its very rare for a student to finish studying at 10 p.m. and then be asleep by 10:15. These stresses during finals coupled with looking at a computer screen late at night will generally make it difficult for a student, or anyone, to fall asleep straight away, preventing them from getting those all-important 8 hours. Students who need to fall asleep fast but still have their mind on final examinations can use an app such as White Noise. Students can choose from a number of different sounds such as ocean waves, stream water, or even an air conditioner to help them fall asleep. Users dont have to worry about listening to the lovely sounds of the ocean for an entire 8 hours because they can easily set the app to shut off after a certain amount of time. Bottom Line Although studying, especially in high school, is a huge part of a students life, its important that they maintain good health and happiness throughout their final examination study journey. Taking a few minutes here and there to relax, re-center, or rest is a great way to aid in an overall study/life balance. Dos And Donts Of DIY Beauty Treatments

Do's And Don'ts Of DIY Beauty Treatments My personal sugar scrub. I store it in a cool, dry place and inside of an easy to open container. In an episode of  RuPaul’s Drag-U, it was said that the acids in Pepto Bismol “will pucker and tighten [one’s skin].” As tempting as it might be to emulate something you’ve seen someone do, be it on television or even in a tutorial, no treatment is flawless. In fact, in an Elle Magazine article, a doctor offered comment that Pepto “could be too drying which goes, “for any but the most oily skin.” At that point, it might be best to consult with your doctor about how to treat your skin and, if you do make a mistake and dry your skin out using a DIY beauty treatment, you may need to see the doctor anyway. So, take the extra precaution and consult a medical professional in person even if there is info floating around on the internet about it. DO NOT: Ignore your allergies in favor of a beauty treatment. No beauty treatment is worth risking your well-being.(https://pixabay.com) This should go without saying, but men, women and anyone really will sometimes put their looks before their health. I’m guilty of it and I know that I have friends and family who are guilty of it, but putting your well-being on the line in the sense of having an allergy or asthma trigger around is by no means worth it. You’ll end up creating much more of a hassle by out-right ignoring something that makes you sick and/or might cause you to break out your EpiPen. The best thing to do here is to either look for an alternative beauty hack, or even go and get yourself some pre-made hypoallergenic formula at the store while you continue on in your search for a health-friendly DIY. DO: Take precaution. This might go without saying, but sometimes our impatience can get the better of us. What I mean here is, if your DIY beauty treatment involves heat or anything that could possibly be harmful, do not throw caution to the  wind. A friend recently shared a Buzzfeed video about Sugar Wax with me and the video cautions to wait 10-20 minutes for the wax to cool before using it on your body. So, the thing to do there is to actually time out the 10-20 minutes. Now, it might be wise to to time it to closer to 20 minutes because a hot wax burn could take you to the ER and no one wants that. Even if you’re not applying something hot directly to your skin but perhaps mixing it into some other ingredients, do be sure to pour slowly as not to splash the hot water everywhere and cause yourself unneeded pain. Being cautious and mindful of your actions with any DIY is a must. DO NOT: Tweak the ingredients of the DIY. This could lead to issues in the sense that, more than the recommended amount being mixed could create issues. For example, I once found a wonderful sugar scrub recipe through Pinterest. Now, I decided that I wanted to go off script and change the color of the scrub. I wanted a nice pigmented sugar scrub and decided to add an excessive amount of food coloring to my mixture. The tutorial only recommended adding about half a drop of red food coloring.  I added blue food coloring, an entirely different color than the one that was recommended. While I found the scrub to work wonderfully anyhow, I ended up with ‘Smurf hands and cheeks’ because I was so determined to have blue sugar scrub even if the blue unintentionally ended up staying on my face. While my case with the food coloring was mild, tweaking ingredient amounts might have the power to potentially make the final product less effective. Sticking to the script of a beauty treatment recipe is also a much safer route to go if you’re using something that could potentially dry out skin, such as baking soda. Happy Do It Yourself-ing but, please remember to take these dos and don’ts  of beauty treatments into consideration. https://pixabay.com

Colloids Chemistry

Colloids ChemistryColloids are chemical substances that are used in the production of pharmaceutical products. The term 'colloid' can be defined as 'forming when two or more elements are combined into a homogeneous mass.' For example, colloidal silver is a colloid. It is produced in the presence of silver and other chemical agents and are injected directly into the body.Colloids are used to make powders and liquids to be injected into the human body. In the early twentieth century, there was a huge explosion in the use of colloids in the development of medicines for curing many diseases. There were several reasons why the use of colloids was adopted by the medical community. The most common reason was that there were very few suitable drugs to treat certain types of diseases. Therefore, the best method to treat these diseases was to use colloids in their medications.Another reason for the use of colloids in medicine was that they can be prepared in different sizes and forms. This mea ns that when medicines are prepared using colloids, the dosage could be altered accordingly. Also, colloids are known to have a lower oral absorption rate than other drugs. Thus, colloids are used extensively in the treatment of certain kinds of disease. In addition to the above two reasons, colloids have numerous advantages over other forms of medicine. For instance, the excretion of colloidal silver through the kidneys is considered to be faster and easier than other forms of medication. Also, colloids can be used to build up the immune system and thus allow the body to fight against a wider range of illnesses. Additionally, colloids can also be used to boost the body's resistance to diseases such as cancer. In general, colloids are considered to be one of the most effective forms of medicine available today.Colloids are usually mixed with other ingredients before being injected into the body. In this way, the body is exposed to a greater range of colloidal substances and is made t o absorb them more effectively. However, it is essential to use colloids without any chemicals. Any kind of chemical will disrupt the process of absorption and cause adverse effects on the body. So, if there is no chemical present in the solution, there is a better chance of the excretion of colloidal silver through the kidneys. This process is not beneficial for a lot of people.Colloids can also cause inflammation in the body. Although colloids can cause some temporary inflammation, the effects tend to disappear after a while. For people who suffer from chronic inflammation, the use of colloids can be very harmful. The main reason for this is that the body gets rid of the aluminum contained in colloids slowly.Overall, colloids are one of the most important methods of medicine in the medical world. As such, colloids should be used in the right quantities and should never be used in an excessive quantity.
